Welcome To CWKats
Overview
Welcome cwkats, a site that is dedicated primarily to Canadian cats. This site will educate you on Canada's three wildcat species and their habitats . There are thirty seven different species of wild cats throughout the world today.
The most popular species that most people think of when hearing wild cats are the cheetah, jaguar, lion, tiger, and the leopard. These are the biggest cats. The medium sized cats are the mountain lion, snow leopard, and cougar. The remaining thirty are the smaller of the species.
Medium To Big Cats
Within these species fall the African Cats, Asian Cats, and the American Cats. The African Cats include the lion, leopard, and the cheetah.
The Asian Cats include the tiger and the snow leopard.
In the American Cats there is the jaguar and the cougar.
Small Cats
There are more small cats than big and medium. These species exist in Africa, Asia, Europe, North America, and South America. And then we have the domestic cat that is also called the house cat. The domestic cat has been thought to have come from the African wildcat. The actual domestication of the house cat is thought to have happened about four thousand years ago in Egypt. There seems to be some evidence that the domestication of the cat had something to do with religion.
